Does Acupuncture Hurt?

This is by far the most commonly asked question by new patients. The quick answer is, it shouldn’t. Dr. Stefanie might not be so willing to allow students to practice on her and we wouldn’t have so many happily returning and referring patients if it hurt!

There are hundreds of acupuncture points on the body. This allows Dr. Stefanie to easily adjust treatments to meet each client’s specific needs. For instance, I don’t like the eye point on the bottom of the foot, so she uses other vision points- like on my ear, to treat that. Should you ever notice something doesn’t feel right after the needle is in place, please immediately communicate what you are experiencing so Dr. Stef can make the appropriate modifications. Your feedback is so important to let us know how your body is responding to the treatment.

A fear of needles is very common and understandable. We promise- it doesn’t feel like getting a shot or pricking your finger on a sewing needle! And we encourage you to be brave- just for a couple of seconds so you, too, can experience how little you even notice the points being placed and can reap the benefits of acupuncture on your wellness!
